World Championships for Icelandic Horses 2019 in Berlin. They are not tall, have long-hair, they are impressively fast and appear in many colours. After six years, Berlin is once again welcoming the world’s best Icelandic horses and their riders, to the 50th World Championships. One week dedicated to the Icelandic horse.
Iceland is at the top of many riders’ and travellers’ bucket lists. The small island state high in the north captivates with breathtaking, almost extreme landscapes and natural highlights – glaciers, volcanoes, geysers – green meadows, rocks and sea, but also with friendly people, numerous horses and a rich creative cultural scene.
Iceland – Lovely Home is the title of a book with personal stories of German women in Iceland. Not all of them emigrated to Iceland because of love or because of horses. However, the Icelandic horse has a very high status in its homecountry. The horses belong to the Icelandic culture and every traveller to Iceland will encounter them sooner or later.
Inspiration Icelandic horses. It was a remarkable exhibition in 2013 in the Felleshus of the Nordic Embassies Berlin and later in the Kulturhaus in Berlin-Karlshorst on the occasion of the Icelandic World Championships in Berlin. The Nordic Embassies showed the Icelandic horse in the mirror of art and design. The fine and practically inspiring exhibition shows exciting exhibits from various media.
